Medical

John English, M.D.
Chief Executive Officer

Dr. John English is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has been practicing medicine since 1993. Prior to becoming the Medical Director of Bethesda Health Clinic, he practiced medicine at Trinity Clinic in Tyler, Texas. John holds a M.D. degree from U.T. Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Matt Humphries, M.D.
Medical Director

Dr. Matt Humphries is board certified in Family Practice, and he has been practicing medicine since 1996. From 1996 to 2015, Matt served as a Medical Missionary in East Asia with the International Mission Board. Matt holds a M.D. degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and he completed his residency at the University of Alabama. Matt also holds a B.S. in Biology from Baylor University.

Lianne Hanson, M.D.
Gynecologist

Dr. Lianne Hanson-Sanchez volunteered at Bethesda for many years before joining the staff in 2016. Prior to Bethesda, Lianne was in private practice in Albuquerque New Mexico. Lianne holds an M.D. from Tulane Medical School. Her internship and residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology was completed at the University of California, San Diego. Her undergraduate degree is from UCLA.

Marsha Jones, R.N.
Lead Nurse

Marsha Jones joined Bethesda in 2022 as a Lead Nurse.

Marsha is a 1981 graduate of Texas Eastern School of Nursing. She has 42 years of experience. These years include time in ICU, ER, Cardiology, Home Health and Hospice. Marsha has been a volunteer at Bethesda with Grace Community for the last 6 years.

In her spare time, Marsha spends time with family. Her hobbies include quilting, needlework and making things for her family including her 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

Andrea Loyd, APRN, FNP-BC
Family Nurse Practitioner

Andrea Loyd joined Bethesda in 2010 as a nurse practitioner working part-time. She became a nurse practitioner to serve people and help them feel empowered to improve their health. Said Andrea, “I see myself as a tool that God can use to help people in a practical way, fulfilling God’s call on my life as a teenager to go into a healthcare.” Andrea has a BS in Biology from Hardin Simmons University, a BS in Nursing from UT Arlington, and a MS in Nursing from UT Arlington. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society in Nursing and the East Texas Nurse Practitioners Association.
Karin Grantham, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
Family Nurse Practitioner

Karin Grantham joined Bethesda is 2021 after completing her Master of Science in Nursing and becoming credentialed as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Karin wants to make a difference in the health of her neighbors in East Texas, leveraging an extensive background in healthcare. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1986 at Baylor University and began her nursing career in the Surgical and Trauma Intensive Care Unit. She transitioned into the Operating Room, and returned to school to obtain her MBA from the University of Dallas. She entered the field of healthcare consulting and completed a Master of Science in Organization Development from the University of Texas at Dallas while consulting in the areas of strategy and operations.

Karin was part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies for more than 20 years before coming home to Texas in 2014.

Priscilla Pichon, PA-C, MPH
Physician Assistant

Priscilla joined Bethesda in 2020 and is the newest addition to our provider team! She is passionate about helping the underserved and is a perfect fit at Bethesda! Priscilla is from Chapel Hill, Texas, and both of her parents are from Peru. She recently graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master of PA Studies. She also holds a BS in Biology and Master of Public Health with a specialization in Community Health Education from Baylor.

Kristin White, FNP
Family Nurse Practitioner

Kristin White joined Bethesda in 2023. Kristin has 7 plus years combined experience as an advanced practice provider and emergency medicine registered nurse (RN). She most recently served as a Nurse Practitioner with MyMD Select in Jacksonville.

She holds degrees from Dallas Baptist University and UT Tyler.

Kim Camp
Mental Health Counselor

Kim Camp is a Licensed Professional Counselor and LPC Supervisor. She has been providing counseling in Texas and prior to that, Louisiana, since 1994. Kim has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University and holds a B.S. in Psychology from Northwestern State University.

Kim joined the Bethesda team in 2023. She also owns and operates a private counseling practice in Tyler. Prior to starting her private practice in 2020, Kim was the Director of Grace Counseling Center, affiliated with Grace Community Church, for many years.

Becky Olivarez
Specialist Coordinator

Beckey Olivarez joined Bethesda in December, 2006.

Becky schedules and assists volunteer providers, performs X-ray services and casts fractures. She also provides diabetic insulin and nutrition instruction for patients, prepares charts for Saturday Clinics and processes Saturday Clinic orders. Beck also provides Spanish interpretation services.

Becky is a Certified Community Health Worker; Medical Assistant training in a doctor’s office; Non-Certified X-ray Technician.

She loves quilting, planting, going to the movies and playing with my doggie and cat and cuddling with my husband. Medical missionary to El Salvador and Ecuador.

Prior to joining Bethesda, Becky worked for Azalea Orthopedics.

Lizbeth Cornelio
Nutrition and Wellness Educator

Lizbeth Cornelio admits and discharges patients, takes and records patient vitals, and assists physicians with procedures.

Medical Assistant

Lizbeth Mojarro admits and discharges patients, takes and records patient vitals, and assists physicians with procedures.

Lizbeth joined Bethesda in 2018.

Leslie Gonzalez admits and discharges patients, takes and records patient vitals, and assists physicians with procedures.

Mary Arroyo
Patient Care Program Coordinator

Mary schedules medical appointments, maintains medical records, and fills requests for medical records. She also contacts medical patients regarding appointments and labs, and she interprets for Spanish-speaking patients.

Prior to joining Bethesda in 2009, Mary worked at Merry Maids, Outback Steakhouse and Total Community Care Clinic.

Mariela Ruiz
Patient Care Supervisor

Mariela schedules medical appointments, maintains medical records, and fills requests for medical records. She also contacts medical patients regarding appointments and labs, and she interprets for Spanish-speaking patients.
Yajaira Quintero
Patient Care Representative

Yajaira schedules medical appointments, maintains medical records, and fills requests for medical records. She also contacts medical patients regarding appointments and labs, and she interprets for Spanish-speaking patients.
Destiny Gomez
Patient Care Representative

Destiny schedules medical appointments, maintains medical records, and fills requests for medical records. She also contacts medical patients regarding appointments and labs, and she interprets for Spanish-speaking patients.

Destiny graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 2021 and is currently attending TJC. She plans to apply to the Nursing Program at UT Tyler in 2024 and to specialize in dermatology.

Destinies hobbies include reading, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.

Rubyth Tirado, LMSW
Mental Health Counselor

Rubyth Tirado is a bilingual therapist who is Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) trained and HeartMath certified. She specializes in working with children, families, and adults to help decrease unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that are so often caused by trauma. In her work with clients, Rubyth puts special emphasis on increasing positive coping and regulation skills to help ease the burden of suffering and help clients get back to living their fullest lives.

Dental

Stephanie Wilson, DDS
Dental Director

Dr. Stephanie Wilson joined Bethesda in 2021. Stephanie received her Dental license from the University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston TX in 2011 and brings several years of experience in the professional arena as well as volunteering on a mission trip.
Derek Sandoval, RDH
Dental Hygienist

A Tyler native, Derek received his degree in Dental Hygiene in 2017 from Tyler Junior College. He joined Bethesda in October 2020.

Derek conducts initial patient screenings, does regular and deep cleanings, and advises patients on oral health and preventative care.

In his spare time, Derek loves spending time with his wife, dogs, family and friends. His hobbies include exercising, playing disc golf, and music production.

Cristal Lemus, RDH
Dental Hygienist

Conducts initial patient screenings, cleans teeth and advises patients on oral health and preventative care. Counsels patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health. Takes X-Rays. Sterilizes instruments and cleans dental stations. Also helps dentists decide treatments for teeth or gum diseases and handles dental emergencies.

Cristal was the recipient of the Lagniappe Award for Q3 of 2022-2023.

Amy Connaway, RDA
Registered Dental Assistant

Amy Connaway prepares dental stations for patients prior to treatments, assists dentists as they treat patients, takes X-Rays, sterilizes instruments and cleans dental stations. She also orders supplies and instruments for dentists.

Amy achieved her RDA with Expanded Function Certification from Midland College.

Amy joined Bethesda in 2018, and she has been a dental assistant since 2004.

Daisy Hernandez, RDA
Registered Dental Assistant

Daisy is a Register Dental Assistant (RDA). In this role, Daisy assists dentists to perform dental treatments, sets up for dental treatments, flips rooms and sterilizes instruments.

Daisy has been with Bethesda Health Clinic since July 2014, but she had to take the year 2022 off to stay home with her newborn child. She returned in March 2023.

Daisy graduated from John Tyler High School and earned her RDA Diploma from TJC in May 2017.

Daisy was born in Oklahoma, but her family moved to Texas when she was 11. She is a Texan now! Daisy has been married to David for 17 years, and they have 3 boys David, Jafet and Jamir. Fun fact – David and Jamir share a birthday!

Said Daisy, “I enjoy being a boy mom and wouldn’t change it for the world. I love being outdoors and taking road trips with my boys making memories.”

Evelyn Espiricueta, RDA
Registered Dental Assistant

Eveyln Espiricueta assists dental providers as they treat patients. She takes X-Rays and sterilizes dental stations and instruments prior to treatments.

Eveyln has lived in Tyler her whole life. In 2020 she graduated from Early College High School with an Associates Degree in General Studies at the age of 17. Then she attended the Certified Dental Assisting Program of Tyler Junior College and graduated August 2022.

Eveyn enjoys online shopping in her free time. Said Evelyn, “I’m excited to join this great team in helping the community and those in need.”

Natalie Molina
Dental Care Representative

Natalie Molina schedules and confirms dental appointments, checks dental patients in and out, and takes payments. In addition, she scans documents, makes referrals, receives and sends dental records, and ensures the integrity of patient records. She also provides Spanish interpretation services.

Natalie graduated from John Tyler High School and attended TJC.

Salma Gonzalez
Dental Care Representative

She attended Early College High School and graduated with a high school diploma and Associates Degree in General Studies in 2019. Salma started working at Bethesda Health Clinic in March 2022.

Salma enjoys exercising and going out to explore nature.

Social Work

Elizabeth Arellano
Patient Care Coordinator

Elizabeth Arellano joined Bethesda in 2021. She conducts initial assessments, researches and advocates for appropriate public assistance resources, communicates with patient’s care teams, and provides crisis intervention as needed. She refers individuals to appropriate treatment centers, and evaluates programs and services to ensure that basic patient needs are met.

Elizabeth earned her MSW and BSW from Stephen F. Austin University, and she is an Ordained Minister of the Assemblies of God USA.

Elizabeth previously worked at Andrews Center Behavioral Health Care Clinic as a Qualified Mental Health Professional, Supportive Housing Specialist, and Intensive Case Manager. She has been in Pastoral Ministry since 1988 with the Assemblies of God USA.

Donnie Gaines
Patient Care Coordinator Assistant

Donnie Gaines, a former Patient Advocate for Bethesda, has returned as a Patient Care Advocate Assistant. She will be assisting Ms. Arellano with Patient Care and orders from the Medical Team.

Said Donnie, “I came back to work for Bethesda in May 2023, and I am so happy to be home again with my extended family.”

Donnie is a graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler with a degree in Sociology, and she has a Masters of Science in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin University. She is working towards a doctoral degree in Social Work from Walden University in Minnesota.

Donnie has been married for 56 years, and together they have three daughters, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Donnie will be in the office Monday-Wednesday 8AM-Noon and Friday 8AM-Noon.

Admissions

Astilma Vargas
Admissions Coordinator

Astilma Vargas joined Bethesda in 2021 and serves as the Admissions Coordinator. She manages the Admissions Department, assists patients with the admission and requalification process and provides community resources to individuals who don’t meet the eligibility requirements to ensure that their needs are met. In addition,

Astilma holds degrees in Office Technology Administration and Office Technology Medical. She is a graduate of Leadership Tyler Core Class 22, was honored by Women in Tyler, received recognition by the Tyler Hispanic Business Alliance and served on the Tyler Public Library Board of Directors.

Prior to joining Bethesda, Astilma worked at Niños de Promesa Preschool for 16 years as the Program Director, Mother Frances Clinics as a Financial Counselor and Tyler ISD Head Start as a Case Manager.

Development

Diane Thomason
Chief Development Officer

Diane Thomason is Bethesda’s Development Director, and she handles all donor relations and fundraising events. Diane served on the very first board of directors for Bethesda in 2002, and joined the organization officially in 2009. Diane studied Fine Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, and has a background in technology. She has served in leadership positions with many local organizations, including UT Tyler’s College of Business & Technology, Tyler Executive Women’s Network (TEWN), Christian Women’s Job Corps, The Women’s Fund and GetIT.
Laura Houston
Director of Culture and Engagement

Laura provides a wide range of services for 100+ employees at both the clinic and all Hangers of Hope locations. These include leading and equipping the staff to reflect Christian values and Bethesda’s mission in every aspect of their job, encouraging implementation of and adherence to organizational core values and culture, and fostering positive staff engagement (through internal communications, trainings, fun activities and recognition for employee achievements, contributions and professional days).
Before serving in this role, Laura worked in Bethesda’s Development office for 8 years. Prior to joining Bethesda in 2014, she held positions as customer service representative with TXU Energy, Executive Director of a chamber of commerce in Georgia, retail manager of a teachers’ supply, and administrative positions in two churches, a Christian school, and Young Life.

Laura holds a BA in Business Management from Stephen F. Austin University.

Megan Riaz
Director of Community Relations

Megan Riaz joined Bethesda in March of 2018 and serves as Director of Community Relations. She earned her BA and MA degrees in English literature from UT Tyler and has a background in Public Relations, Marketing and Communications. Megan is a graduate of Leadership Tyler Core Class 31 and serves on the boards for SPORTyler and Rose Capital West Little League. Megan is a member of South Tyler Rotary and enjoys giving back to her community through service projects.
Joanna Stewart
Development Specialist

Joanna Stewart helps coordinate events and assists in database management.

She studied at Tyler Junior College before earning her Business degree at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.

A seventh generation Tylerite, Joanna has always had a passion for local organizations loved being part of Hangers of Hope since 2017.

Abby Tillson
Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator

Abby Tillson joined Bethesda in June of 2023 after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin. She earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in Health and Society with an emphasis on Kinesiology and Health Education.

Abby has always had a passion for serving. She grew up in Tyler and is honored to be a part of an organization which allows her to serve others in her own community.

Administration

Melissa Briscoe
Chief Financial Officer

Melissa absolutely loves the mission of Bethesda and is grateful everyday she can be a part of it. She has worked or supported Bethesda Health Clinic and Hangers of Hope since 2014. Melissa earned her BBA in Accounting and has worked in healthcare accounting and management since 1995. When she’s not crunching numbers for Bethesda, you can find her and her husband Zack volunteering at their church, Prince of Peace or participating in Whitehouse with community service projects. As empty nesters, they love to explore the great outdoors, particularly through hiking, remote camping, and skiing adventures in the beautiful state of Colorado.
Terry Marrow
HR Manager

Terry joined Bethesda in 2022 and serves as the Human Resources Manager. He coordinates administrative activities, manages recruiting, hiring, onboarding, development and training for Bethesda Health Clinic and Hangers of Hope personnel. Prior to joining Bethesda, Terry served in the United States Air Force for 22 years and 9 months eventually retiring as a First Sergeant.
Linda Rosales
HR Generalist

Linda Rosales joined Bethesda in 2023 as an HR Generalist. She has been in the HR field for more than 10 years, mostly for local government and manufacturing companies.

Linda earned an Associate’s Degree in Psychology from South Texas College in 2007.

Said Linda, “I love what I do because I feel that this is the purpose God has blessed me with and that is to help people.”

Linda is originally from Mission, which is in deep South Texas. She has four children, a son, 3 daughters, a granddaughter and 2 grandsons. Linda’s hobbies include sketching Disney and Precious Moments characters. She also loves bowling and listening to live bands.

Paula Linsdey
HR Specialist
Chelsea Cohen
Clinic Operations Director

Chelsea manages and develops the volunteer program, serves as the liaison between clinic staff and volunteers, recruits volunteers, implements and maintains ongoing volunteer appreciation, hosts orientations for new volunteers, and establishes and maintains community relationships for volunteer recruiting. She is regularly involved with the Bethesda Alliance and assists with Dr. Luke and the Birthday Bash. She also serves on the planning committee for Dia de las Madres.

Chelsea holds a MA in Strategic Leadership and a BA in Business Administration from LeTourneau University. She graduated from Leadership Tyler in 2023.

Prior to joining Bethesda in 2019, Chelsea worked in the veterinary industry for 7 years doing everything from managing a clinic and recruiting veterinarians to pharmaceutical and equipment sales.

Ann Hoppers
Volunteer Coordinator

Ann Hoppers joined the Bethesda team in August of 2022, and she serves as the Volunteer Coordinator. It is her goal to equip and care for volunteers as she guides them through the interview, placement, orientation, training and volunteer process.

Ann recently graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors of Health Science and a minor in Human Health Perspectives.

As the Volunteer Coordinator it is her goal to make sure the volunteers feel seen and heard while they selflessly serve the East Texas community. Ann is encouraged by the mission of Bethesda, and she is grateful to be a part of a team that is Christ-like and others focused while they provide care for those in need.

Andrew Paolino
Staff Accountant

Andrew was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and lived there until his family moved to the Dallas area in 2005. They eventually settled in a small town called Forney about 20 mins east of Dallas.

After high-school, Andrew went to college at the University of Texas at Tyler and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He joined Bethesda fulltime in April, 2023. “I am excited and blessed to by this opportunity to work at Bethesda Health Clinic,” said Andrew.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys watching sports, hiking, swimming, biking and playing board games. He also plans to help with several volunteer events across the city of Tyler.

Andrew is a member of Southern Oaks Baptist church in Tyler. Said Andrew, “I grew up going to church, and I put Christ in the center of my life in everything that I do.” A verse that has impacted Andrew for as long as he can remember is Jeremiah 29:13 which states, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Rebecca Stuettgen
Staff Accountant

Rebecca joined Bethesda as an Accounting Assistant in 2023 to start a new career in accounting after 5 years as a high school Social Studies teacher.

She graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD in December of 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and French. She has previously worked as a financial advisor, martial arts gym owner, and teacher.

Rebecca moved to Texas from her childhood home in Pennsylvania in 2012 and lived in San Antonio for 10 years, where her son Isaac was born. In the summer of 2022, she moved to Tyler, and in early 2023, married her husband, Charlie. They are currently expecting a daughter in January of 2024.

Rebecca teaches Faith Formation at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Whitehouse, and she enjoys riding horses, reading about Economics, and reenacting medieval history.

Don Bristow
IT Director

Don Bristow joined Bethesda as a Database Consultant in 2013, then became IT Director in 2014.

His background includes 20 years in the software development industry, 5 years as a professional photographer, and 15 years in the website design and hosting business. In his position at Bethesda, Don uses all the skills acquired during 40 years of prior experience.

Following 4 years in the US Navy where he tracked submarines in the North Atlantic, Don received a BA in Liberal Studies (Elementary School Teacher Program) in 1982 and a BA in Mathematics in 1983, both from Sacramento State University, Sacramento. He also earned a Certificate in Computers in Education from the University of California Davis in 1984.

Don has been married to Sandy for 45 years, and they have one daughter, Elissa. Don currently serves on the board of Operation Go Quickly. He previously served on the boards of the BBB of Central East Texas, Greater East Texas IT Professionals, Innovation Advancing Education and Parent Services Center. He is a sponsor of Art Connection of East Texas, a weekly radio program on KTBB.

Don was the recipient of the Lagniappe Award for Q4 of 2022-2023.

Erica Covey
Senior IT Technician

Erica Covey joined Bethesda in 2022 as an IT Assistant. In this role, she supports the technology used by all employees at the clinic and thrift stores.

Erica has an Associate’s Degree with a major in Systems Administration from Tyler Junior College. She has worked in the IT field for the past 16 years and is an Apple Certified Technician and has a Google Level 1 Certification.

In her spare time, Erica volunteers with her church, maintaining their website, live broadcasts and recording of sermons.

Hangers of Hope

Chrystal Carter
Retail Director

Chrystal Carter oversees operations and over 60 employees at 2 Hangers of Hope thrift stores and the Hangers of Hope Production Facility.

Chrystal joined Hangers of Hope as a cashier in 2016, and she worked her way up to Retail Director in just 5 years.

Prior to joining Hangers of Hope, Chrystal spent over 15 years in the home health industry as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Sherry Bellar
Manager Hangers of Hope Highland Village

Sheryl “Sherry” Bellar is the Manager of Hangers of Hope on the Troup Hwy. She started out as a cashier back in January of 2019 and has worked her way up into the management team. Sherry loves greeting her customers, leading the 10 o’clock prayer time every day and helping those in need.

Prior to joining Hangers of Hope, Sherry worked in medical offices for over 13 years, and she also taught preschool which was one of her favorite jobs.

Sherry has two children, a granddaughter and a great granddaughter. She and her husband love to go camping, hiking, kayaking and throwing Frisbee with their two Border Collies “Sadie” And “Bella”.

Samantha DeVries
Manager Hangers of Hope Broadway

Samantha graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She and her husband Chris live in Whitehouse.
Samantha’s career with Hangers of Hope started in 2020 as a Production Sorter. She was promoted to Production Manager in 2021, then to Manager of Hangers of Hope Broadway in 2023.

Said Samantha, “I love Hangers of Hope and am dedicated to our mission at Bethesda. What I love the most is empowering individuals, through Christ Jesus, to do things they never thought they could do. I love to see the barriers break and to see the change in them through the Holy Spirit. I love to go out on the sales floor, talk with our customers and see the impact we are having on our community. I love being a part of something so much bigger than me and to share Christ with our team and our customers and donors.”

Olga Ohrbeck
Transportation Manager

Olga joined Bethesda Health Clinic in 2018 as a Dental receptionist, but she later managed the Dental department. Olga transitioned to Hangers of Hope in 2021, and she is now the manager of the Transportation/Recycling Center.

Olga schedules Pick Up My Donations and oversees the Recycling Center. Ahe also does various administrative duties for the Retail Director and for the stores.
